We kick off our Rolling Roadshow Summer Texas Tour this weekend with THE SEARCHERS on Friday at Old Fort Parker and THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE on Saturday at the Junction House, the original house of horror used in the film.
But the party doesn't really get started until Sunday, when we do a screening IN AUSTIN of the great Coen Brothers' neo-classic BLOOD SIMPLE. That screening will be at Dessau Hall, the location the filmmakers used to double for Marty's bar in their film. Admission to the film is 100% free and open to the public, so make sure you come out on Sunday to check it out.
We're also excited to announce that we'll be hosting an afterparty at Dessau Hall, featuring the musical stylings of The Derailers. The party starts at 11pm and although the outdoor screening of BLOOD SIMPLE is free, admission for the party is $5. You can purchase your ticket for the BLOOD SIMPLE Afterparty in advance by clicking here.
Joel and Ethan Coen’s seamy redneck noir (and their directorial debut) was shot on location in this historic Austin music venue, which doubles as Marty’s bar in the film. Over the years, Dessau Hall has hosted the likes of Glen Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Hank Williams, Ernest Tubb and a young Elvis Presley.
Also, just a little announcement - iTunes has launched the complete poster set for our tour, which you can check out on their site. To say these posters are phenomenal is to undervalue them.
Notes about the screening:
Admission is free and first come, first serve
Facebook RSVP does not guarantee admission
Bring your own seating and arrive early for good spot!
All screenings are 35mm and will be preceded by a reel of vintage themed 35mm trailers
Food, drinks and beer will be available at the screening, and no outside food or drink is allowed
