One Day Left to Show Uwe Boll How Video Game Movies Should be Done!
Everyone likes to dump on Uwe Boll, but we have a soft spot for him here at Fantastic Fest. He's been one of our favorite guests (anyone who saw his post-screening rant at POSTAL will attest to that), and we're happy to have him back this year to screen RAMPAGE, his latest film, and one of the few that's not based on a video game (though it sure sounds like it is).
Dr. Boll is probably most famous (or infamous) for his many video game movie adaptations, which include the aforementioned POSTAL; IN THE NAME OF THE KING: A DUNGEON SIEGE TALE; FAR CRY; BLOODRAYNE; HOUSE OF THE DEAD and ALONE IN THE DARK; granted, these are also among the most despised video game movie adaptations of all time that have earned Dr. Boll the (undeserved) reputation he has today. So in honor of his return to Fantastic Fest, we've teamed up with our good friends at G4's Attack of the Show to present the Uwe Boll Totally Awesome Videogames Filmmaking Competition, which will settle once and for all just who makes better video game movies: Uwe Boll... or you?
There's just one day left to get your entries in to G4, but based on the talent that's shown itself in our recent Fantastic Fest Bumper Contest, we're looking forward to seeing just what both fans and detractors will come up with in order to win one of two all expense paid trips to Fantastic Fest. In addition, winners also get an opportunity to meet Uwe Boll (and G4's Olivia Munn!) and have him sit in judgment of their work for a change. Full contest details can be found here.
Winners will be announced at this year's Fantastic Fest awards show on September 28. Good luck!
