Off-Centered Film Fest wants your Off-Centered Films!

The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema and Dogfish Head Craft Brewery have teamed up, once again, for the Off-Centered Film Fest short film competition! Featuring off-centered films for off-centered people, the festival celebrates the DIY approach of both the Alamo Drafthouse & Dogfish Head Craft Brewery. Where do you come in? Film submissions have just opened, and we want to see your off-centered attitudes!

Dogfish Head Craft Brewery wants to give independent-minded, aspiring filmmakers the chance to let their own freak-flags fly by making their own films that celebrate “off-centeredness,” to be interpreted in unique and creative ways! The goal is to build a short film competition that is as far from the mainstream as Dogfish Head’s 90 Minute I.P.A. is from mainstream beer.

The film fest is April 14th and 15th. The submission deadline (at the absolute latest) is March 12th.

The rules are pretty basic: Your film can be no longer than 5 Minutes in length, all submissions must contain a theme of “off-centeredness" (this can be interpreted however the director sees fit), you must include a reference to Dogfish Head in the script OR have Dogfish Head product placement in the film (we recommend drinking some), and you must be 21+ to sumbit a film (those crazy TABC laws!).

"But what's in it for me?!" Well, aside from filming yourself and your friends drinking delicious beer... The first place winner gets $1000 (!!!), second place wins $750 (awesome!), and third place walks away with a sweet $500 (you can buy a lot of beer with that much cash...). Winners also get airfare for 1 submitting director to Austin, TX for the 2011 Off-centered Film Fest (up to $400), two nights hotel in Austin, TX during the Off-centered Film Fest, admission to both nights of the Off-centered Film Fest (2 people per night, per film), and a Dogfish Head Schwag Bag.

So you see, friends, this is a pretty sweet set up. We highly recommend that you get to drinking and get to filming! All you have to do is come up with 5-minutes of solid, "off-centered," beer-induced entertainment, and you're sittin' pretty. Check out what Dogfish founder Sam Calagione and Alamo founder Tim League have to say about the event below, watch the 2010 winners (also below) then go HERE for more rules and submission deadlines. We can't wait to see your films!

"The Off-Centered Film Fest is one of my favorite events of the year. There is a tremendous overlap in the creative spirit between the indie film and the indie beer communities and everyone at Dogfish enjoys getting our chocolate into the Alamo's peanut butter,"
- Sam Calagione, Dogfish Head Craft Brewery Founder

"I am a beer drinker, that pastime and a love of movies is what brought about the Alamo Drafthouse concept in the first place. I brewed beer in college and am always on the hunt for new and interesting beers to try. Without a doubt, Dogfish Head is one of the most innovative, creative and exciting breweries to have ever existed. I am a huge fan (and consumer) of Sam's brand, and it is an honor to partner with them to produce the Off-Centered Film Fest”
- Tim League, Alamo Drafthouse Founder & CEO
