November events announced

November marks the release of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1, and the Alamo Drafthouse in Winchester has big plans for this film.

Breaking Dawn premieres at midnight on Thursday November 17. Tickets are available now for the midnight premiere, which will take place on all 8 screens in digital projection. Several hundred tickets are already sold, so make sure to buy yours soon. If midnight is too late for you, we also have the entire opening weekend open for sale (Friday November 18 - Sunday November 20). Click here for tickets.

While we all wait for the new movie, we are planning two ways for everyone to see the first three movies again on the big screen.

On Thursday, November 17 we will present the Twilight-A-Thon, which will feature the first three Twilight movies back-to-back on digital prints. Tickets are available at the box office only, because when you buy your ticket you get to select a reserved seat for the entire show! The movies start at 5 pm and run up until the midnight premiere of Breaking Dawn. There will be breaks between the movies and trivia and costume contests before the midnight premiere. Tickets for the Twilight-A-Thon are only $15. A separate ticket is needed for the Breaking Dawn premiere, but you can keep your seat for that movie as well.

If you can't make it through nine straight hours of Twilight, we are also offering the previous films on consecutive Tuesdays leading up to the premiere week. Tickets for each show will be $5, and all films are on digital prints. Films will be as follows:

Tuesday, November 1, 7:30 pm. PG-13, 122 minutes.

Tuesday, November 8, 7:30 pm. PG-13, 130 minutes.

Tuesday, November 15, 7:30 pm. PG-13, 124 minutes.

November brings two new sing-alongs to the Alamo. On Friday 11/11/11 at 11 pm, we will feature This Is Spinal Tap Sing and Quote-Along. Everyone's favorite metal movie roars into the theater with on-screen dialogue and lyrics for audience participation. We will have inflattable guitars, live microphones, and an air guitar competition. This will be the opposite of a Shark Sandwich, if you know what I mean.

On Wednesday 11/30 at 8:30 pm, join us for all the best videos from Kanye, Jay Z and Beyonce at the Ye-Z In Love Sing-Along! $5 tickets include cool props, on-screen lyrics and live microphones so you can sing in front of all the single ladies!

Our Girlie Night features a girlie drink menu and a screening of When Harry Met Sally on Wednesday Nov 9 at 8:30 pm for only $5.  I’ll have what she’s having!

Horror Remix delivers its last new show of the year at 9 pm on Wednesday, Nov. 16 with Thanksgiving.  It’s two hours of turkey terror!  Tickets are free, and the event features your on-screen hosts Cheescake and Thunderclap.

TV at the Alamo delivers weekly screenings of Glee (Tuesday at 8 pm) and The Walking Dead (Sunday at 9 pm) when new episodes air, plus a special screening of Virginia Tech football when the Hokies take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at 8:00 pm on Thursday, Nov. 10.  Tickets for all TV at the Alamo events are free and available at the box office.

There will be a midnight premiere of A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas on Thursday, Nov. 3, and local comedy troupe The Popular Outcasts will perform at 8:30 pm on Thursday, Nov. 10.

We end November and start December with the return of The Polar Express, November 28 - December 9.  Optional packages are available with coloring pages, holiday cookies and hot chocolate, and kids can meet the conductor at each screening!
