NO NO: A DOCKUMENTARY opens this Friday at Vintage Park!

"There's enough diamond lore here to please baseball diehards, but Ellis' outsize life will grip even casual fans." - Rob Staeger, Village Voice

"A film so vital and full of life that it almost becomes essential." - Kevin Ketchum, Movie Mezzanine

"Radice's filmic delivery breaks sharply from just a sports-story to an intensely personal story as well as a glimpse into the social/political cataclysms of the 1960 and '70s." - Duane Byrge, Hollywood Reporter

NO NO: A DOCKUMENTARY has been getting stellar reviews as it runs the basses from its festival run to this weekend's theatrical roll-out and. beginning this Friday, Houston audiences will have a chance to see the movie for themselves when it makes its local premiere at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema - Vintage Park.

Dock Ellis made history on June 12, 1970 when he threw a no-hitter for the Pittsburgh Pirates. That would be impressive enough but what made history was the fact that Ellis was high on LSD. NO NO explores the life and times of Ellis - a professional baseball player that never shied away from controversy. From embroiling himself in the racial politics of the day - fighting for equality in a world that constantly tried to deny him it - to earning a reputation as one of the most intimidating pitchers of the '70s, Ellis was an imposing figure in whatever arena he did battle. After retiring from baseball, Dock became an outspoken activist against drug addiction - speaking up about his own vices and helping other addicts find their strength. Now, for the first time, Dock Ellis' story is told on the big screen. Director Jeffrey Radice makes his directorial debut in this critically acclaimed film that has racked up recognition at film festivals including Sundance, SXSW and more.

The film will screen at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema - Lubbock beginning Friday, September 5. Join us at the 7:15 PM screening on Friday for a special screening with special guests including former Astros Etnos Cabell, Scipio Spinks, Bob Watson and former MLB players Ralph Garr and Bobby Tolan.
