New Gonzo MIAMI CONNECTION One-Sheet Unveiled
Quebec artist/filmmaker François Simard realizes new gonzo one-sheet for the ultimate achievement in 80s taekwondo anti-sanity!
Miami Connection is one of the Alamo Drafthouse's greatest cinematic discoveries. After much persistance, programmer Zack Carlson blind bought a 35mm print of the film on eBay for $50 from a very cautionary, reluctant seller. The first unveiling of this film yielded an unforgettable response that Carlson said "destroyed our audience in a more powerful way than anything else in the 15 years of our theater’s existence."
Financed, produced and starring 9th degree black belt Grandmaster Y.K. K (also a successful business entrepreneur and motivational speaker), the film saw a very limited theatrical release in Florida and sparse VHS release in 1987 before vanishing into obscurity... until now! Miami Connection returns to theaters this fall (New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago & more) and home video on December 11th!
Quebec based artist/filmmaker François Simard, part of the RKSS Collective (whose Jason Eisener co-produced Turbo Kid recently ignited producers EMAfilms at this year's Fantasia Film Festival co-production market for a feature film deal), realized this new gonzo, VHS-worship one-sheet for the ultimate achievement in 80s taekwondo anti-sanity. This poster will be available for pre-order on DrafthouseFilms.com next week prior to its screening at Fantastic Fest where the featured 80s synth rock band Dragon Sound will be reuniting for a special after-party concert!
The year is 1987. Motorcycle ninjas tighten their grip on Florida’s narcotics trade, viciously annihilating anyone who dares move in on their turf. Multi-national martial arts rock band Dragon Sound have had enough, and embark on a roundhouse wreck-wave of crime-crushing justice. When not chasing beach bunnies or performing their hit song “Against the Ninja,” Mark (kung-fu master/inspirational speaker Y.K. Kim) and the boys are kicking and chopping at the drug world’s smelliest underbelly. It’ll take every ounce of their blood and courage, but Dragon Sound can’t stop until they’ve completely destroyed the dealers, the drunk bikers, the kill-crazy ninjas, the middle-aged thugs, the “stupid cocaine”...and the entire MIAMI CONNECTION!!!
