Alamo Drafthouse Kalamazoo is under construction

The Alamo Drafthouse is taking shape inside the former Rave Cityplace 14!

Alamo Drafthouse Kalamazoo is under construction

Remember the old saying about how Rome wasn't built in a day? It takes a while to build an Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, too. But the project is coming along.

You may remember that Rave Cityplace had 14 screens. But the Rave only had movies: The Alamo Drafthouse will have 10 screens, as well as a full kitchen, bar (with 32 taps, featuring local beers) and lounge area. Here are the beginnings of the kitchen area, which will soon be preparing pizzas, burgers, salads, wraps, appetizers and desserts.

Remember the old Rave box office? It's being completely overhauled to make room for digital poster cases and concierge stations. The ticketing procedure at Alamo is different than your standard cinema because you buy a reserved seat instead of a general admission ticket; it's more like going to a live theater, in which you select the place you want to sit beforehand. This means, you always get your favorite seat

A portion of the lobby area at the front of the building will be transformed into a lounge area, where you can go after your movie to relax and discuss the show. With four hours of free parking, you should have plenty of time to unwind and talk with friends before heading home.
