If you haven’t heard yet, our location at West Oaks Mall will be closing its doors for the final time this Sunday, June 24. We’ve had some good times over the last nine years and we are determined to go out in one final blaze of glory with a weekend packed to the gills with events, films, food and fun.
Things get started this Friday with a special screening of John Carpenter’s THE THING. Part of our Summer of 1982 series, Carpenter’s classic alien brain-buster stars Kurt Russell and features the best gooey, shape shifting horror put on film in the 30 years since its release. Tickets are going fast for this screening so make sure you pre-order them in advance.
On Saturday, we’re bringing back one of your favorite Sing-Along events – the ‘80s Movie Anthem Sing-Along. Join us for two hours of the best movie montage-worthy tunes, with props, a live host and more. Tickets are only $5 and can be purchased in advance here.
Later that night, we’re hosting one final Graveyard Shift screening at West Oaks. Our classic horror film series has been scaring audiences for the last year and what better way to transition the series over to its new home at Mason Park than with a special screening of Clive Barker’s massively underrated LORD OF ILLUSIONS. We’re even screening this Scott Bakula-starring horror film in 35mm! Buy your tickets in advance here.
On Sunday, we close our doors at West Oaks forever. But, before we do, we ask you to join us for one last event – A special free screening of one of the first films we ever played at Houston’s first Alamo Drafthouse location: OLD SCHOOL. This event is absolutely free and admission is first come, first served. The show starts at 7 PM so don’t be late!
We may not be able to bring this weekend’s new releases to our West Oaks location but we’re doing the next best thing – bringing back this summer’s best film: THE AVENGERS. If you’re going to celebrate the last nine years with one last film screening at the Alamo Drafthouse – West Oaks, why not make it one of the best films to be released this year? How about this as an extra incentive - tickets for THE AVENGERS are only $5 all weekend long!
We’ve packed a ton of fun into this final weekend and we hope you can make the trip out to West Oaks one final time to say good bye. We’ve enjoyed serving the film-loving community of Houston and can’t wait to continue our service through our Mason Park location and our upcoming theaters in North Houston and midtown. See you at the movies this weekend!
