January events announced

Amazing classic movies and sports on the big screen!

In January, the Alamo Drafthouse is heavy on nostalgia and sports with a slew of classic films and free, live sports coverage.  We will also help celebrate the birthdays of Elvis, John Carpenter, and Kenny Loggins!

Kenny Loggins Birthday Weekend with FOOTLOOSE and CADDYSHACK

Fri, Jan 6 – Sun, Jan 8

In the ‘80s, it seemed like Kenny Loggins was contributing to every worthwhile soundtrack not entitled Purple Rain.  In celebration of his 64th birthday on January 7th, we will be showing two movies featuring title songs from Mr. Loggins:  Caddyshack, and the original 1984 version of Footloose.  Click the film titles to check dates and times and to buy tickets.

Sun, Jan 8

On Sunday, January 8, we celebrate what would have been the 77th birthday of The King, Elvis Aaron Presley.  Sing-along to two hours of footage of Elvis, including performances of “Blue Suede Shoes”, “Heartbreak Hotel”, and much more.  There will be Elvis-inspired food specials and live microphones. John Carpenter’s Birthday with BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA

Sun, Jan 15 & Mon, Jan 16

John Carpenter has made so many great films, including Halloween, The Fog, They Live, Christine, Escape from New York…the list goes on.  Choosing one movie to screen for Carpenter’s birthday was too hard, so we took votes on Facebook.  The winner, as selected by our customers, is Big Trouble in Little China.  In this 1986 classic, Kurt Russell plays all-American trucker Jack Burton, who gets dragged into a centuries-old mystical battle below San Francisco's Chinatown.  Buy Tickets

Th, Jan 12

John Hughes directed Molly Ringwald in an opus of teen angst.  Of course, it wouldn’t be a John Hughes movie without a killer ‘80s soundtrack, which in this case features Straw Cats, Wham!, Billy Idol, and more.  And it wouldn’t be girlie night without awesome drink specials, which we will have again for you and all of your girlfriends.
