Introducing the Alamo Kids Club - A free monthly movie series for the whole family

What’s better than watching a classic film on the big screen? How about watching a classic film on the big screen for free!

This weekend we’re kicking off the Alamo Kids Club, our new all-ages film series dedicated to bringing free screenings of classic family films to the the Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas in Houston. Teaming up with our friends at 8th Dimension Comics & Games and Ain’t It Cool News, we’ve planned a fun-packed morning of Muppets, games and surprises of all shapes and sizes.

For the first entry in the Alamo Kids Club, we’re screening the classic film THE GREAT MUPPET CAPER. Jim Henson’s follow-up to THE MUPPET MOVIE, THE GREAT MUPPET CAPER sees Kermit the Frog and friends crossing the pond and getting into a wacky British adventure featuring jewel thieves, love struck pigs and the always-entertaining Charles Grodin. A mystery Muppet musical, THE GREAT MUPPET CAPER is the perfect way to prime up your kids for the Muppets’ return to the big screen in this fall’s THE MUPPETS.

Best of all, we’ll be screening the film from a rare 35mm print. Your kids will be able to see the film the same way you did all the way back in 1981.

In addition to the movie, we have a few surprises lined up — including a game or two before the film and an all-you-can-eat cereal bar for you to enjoy during the movie.

Because this screening is free, you can’t pre-order your tickets online. You can, however, pick them up at the box office anytime before Saturday. This screening is sure to be a sold-out event so make sure you show up early for guaranteed seating.

Finally, let us know what films you want to see in the future. Leave a comment with suggestions for future Alamo Kids Club screenings.
