It wouldn’t be October at the Alamo Drafthouse without a midnight screening of THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW. On October 22, The Exceptional Beauties will return to Mason Park for a shadowcast performance of everybody’s favorite film about a sweet transvestite, from Transsexual Transylvania.
As the film plays, The Exceptional Beauties will help audiences immerse themselves in the film by dressing up as your favorite characters and acting out the film on stage and in the aisles.
If you like the Quote-Along screenings that occur on a regular basis at the Alamo Drafthouse, you’ll dig this event. Callbacks and one-liners are shouted between dialogue and music and props bags are available for audiences to interact with the film — such as throwing toilet paper or sounding off with noisemakers.
In the mood to dress up before Halloween? Audience members are encouraged to show up in costume or fancy dress and strut their stuff on stage and during challenge contests.
For those (admittedly few) who have never heard of THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW, it’s the original midnight movie. A 1975 British rock musical, the film is a parody of B-movies of the science fiction and horror variety.
Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick star as a pair of young lovers who find themselves in a den of weirdness after happening upon the castle of Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a cross-dressing scientist intent on crating a perfect man from scratch.
The longest running theatrical release in film history, the film has been playing in limited release for the last 36 years.
Don’t miss your opportunity to watch the film in the best way possible — surrounded by a theater full of cheering, costumed fans. If you’ve only seen ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW from the comfort of your living room, you haven’t seen the whole movie yet.
