Steven Spielberg knows a thing or two about making a film that will bring out the kid in you. From ET to JURASSIC PARK – even the stuff he’s produced such as AN AMERICAN TAIL and GREMLINS – Spielberg’s films are like little black holes of child-eyed glee – sucking in the sour-faced adult that lives in all of us and leaving nothing behind but a kid in search of fun.
Help us kick off the summer with a Quote-Along screening of the Steven Spielberg produced THE GOONIES, the 1985 Richard Donner film that brought together a dream team of child actors for a rollicking story of adventure, pirates, mutants and miscreants.
The screening will feature a digital presentation of the film on the big screen. To kick things up a notch, though, we’re giving the movie the Action Pack treatment. The quotes that we all know by heart will be subtitled on the screen so we can shout them out in unison. Props (including a Baby Ruth candy bar!) will be given out to make the screening truly interactive.
Sean Astin, Corey Feldman, Jonathan Ke Quan, Jeff Cohen, Kerri Green, Martha Plimpton and Josh Brolin are The Goonies – a group of misfits who find friendship while on the hunt for buried treasure – enough, perhaps, to save their parents’ homes from foreclosure. While investigating the series of caves under their neighborhood in Astoria, Oregon, though, The Goonies run afoul of a family of thugs led by Ma Fratelli. To survive, and save their homes, The Goonies must outwit criminals, overcome their prejudices and dodge an assortment of booby traps.
This is the perfect movie to bring the entire family (rather biological or forged in friendship) to – uniting you and your loved ones with a timeless film full of adventure, danger and Cyndi Lauper.
