South Lamar: We’re here for beer!

A lot of questions about the South Lamar opening have been answered. Except for one... where's the beer?

South Lamar: We’re here for beer!

South Lamar’s opening is upon us! With that being said, there are a lot of things to look forward to. The re-opening of Highball, the brand new theaters and the return of signature programming to the area.

What we can’t look past though, is the beer list!

The Alamo Drafthouse is committed to supporting as many local vendors as possible. We are proud to say that in our beer program at South Lamar alone we are supporting 18 breweries from Texas! That number will only get bigger as local rotating taps get filled and more and more open up. We will be pouring all the local favorites. (512) IPA, Live Oak Hefeweizen, Independence Austin Amber and Austin Beerworks Pearlsnap Pils just to name a few. Since South Lamar closed, quite a few new breweries have opened up in Texas. A few beers we will be showcasing from these breweries are; Infamous Hijack, Grapevine Sir Williams and Revolver Blood and Honey.

Although we are all about local, a few heavy hitters from out of state have also come to the Austin market. Odell Brewing out of Fort Collins, CO came to town just a few months ago, and we are happy to be pouring their Myrcenary Double IPA. Founders Brewing, who have been named one of the best breweries in America, came to Austin in 2013. We will be pouring Reds Rye IPA from them, which has been become one of my personal favorites lately.

This is just a sneak peak of what’s to come. Along with a great local can/bottle list and our always popular rotating seasonals, we are all very happy with South Lamar’s beer list. To see the rest of the list, you’ll have to come in for the grand opening!
