Help us win the Anti-Hunger Games

Starting Nov. 20, we'll be collecting non-perishable food for Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes

Help us win the Anti-Hunger Games

"The Hunger Games" is an exciting fantasy. But hunger is a frightening reality for too many people in the Kalamazoo area.

That's why Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Kalamazoo and Kalamazoo’s Loaves & Fishes have partnered to collect non-perishable food items at the theater. Everyone that makes a donation will be entered to win free movies to the Alamo, gift certificates and other prizes.

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Kalamazoo located at 180 Portage will be collecting items from Wednesday, Nov. 20. Bring canned foods, pasta, soups and boxed foods (such as macaroni and cheese, instant mashed potatoes, oatmeal, etc.) to our collection points in the theater lobby. The Alamo cannot accept any fresh fruit, breads or any items that require refrigeration.

“The holiday season is supposed to be ‘the most wonderful time of the year.’ But it’s hard to celebrate if you don’t have enough to eat,” says James Sanford, Alamo Creative Manager. “We are delighted to partner with Kalamazoo’s Loaves & Fishes, which has always done an outstanding job of assisting the neediest members of our community, on this project. At a time when everyone is talking about ‘The Hunger Games,’ we’re launching our own Anti-Hunger Games."

Food will be collected through Monday, Dec. 9. To learn more about Loaves & Fishes, please visit the Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes website.
