GRAVITY is about as good as movies get. I can’t even explain the impact it made on me. Simply put, it’s an experience I’ll never forget. It reminds us why watching films on the big screen is important.
Don’t let your first viewing of it be on anything else. No matter how you like your big screen fare the Alamo has you covered. You can see it in 35mm at the Ritz and in digital 3D and 2D at Slaughter Lane, Village and Lakeline.
Cuarón’s direction, as always, is sublime. Emmanuel Lubezki’s cinematography is jaw-dropping. George Clooney is great and Sandra Bullock gives the performance of a lifetime. Get prepared to have your mind blown.
It’s also becoming the best reviewed movie of the year and critics are shelling out the highest praise in its honor:
"Represents cinema's most advanced and intelligent use of the 3-D process...a rare film whose mood, soul and profundity is bound up with its images." -Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle
"It’s the sort of movie that reminds me why I loved movies in the first place." -Lou Lumenick, New York Post
"Cuarón and his technical savants managed to make the impossible seem so cinematically plausible. You are there, inside the awe and dread." -Richard Corliss, Time
"The stunning special effects are beyond compare...and though this mind-blowing film gazes up in awe, its feet are firmly planted on the ground." -Joe Neumaier, New York Daily News
"A great movie is hard to define. So let Gravity do it for you. With enthralling detail, it offers thrills, humor, dazzle, disaster, poetic vision and mythic reach...It's more than a movie. It's some kind of miracle." -Peter Travers, Rolling Stone
