Get ready for nine more weeks of 007

"Movies like that aren't suitable entertainment for children -- and they're not suitable entertainment for adults, either!" -- my mom's analysis of the James Bond series

James Bond shook up my otherwise happy home.

My father was a huge fan and took me to several 007 adventures when I was still much too young to catch any of the double-entendres. When my mother found out about this, she was aghast. In her mind, the James Bond movies were the worst kind of trash, full of gruesome violence, sleazy sex and sexist attitudes. Don't get me wrong: My mother is a wonderful, open-minded lady with generally excellent taste and a deep love of movies, but the appeal of James Bond completely eluded her.

Forgive me, mom, but I really enjoy the James Bond series, with their wild plots, scheming super-villains, lovely ladies, exotic locales and, of course, that endless array of mind-blowing gadgets and weapons. And I have grown up to be a Creative Manager in charge of programming.

So Alamo Kalamazoo will be extending BONDAY every Monday evening through September and October. All screenings will begin at 7 p.m. and will be on sale in mid-August. Here are our just-announced additions to the schedule:
