It's a tradition for us to end each Weird Wednesday bi-monthly calendar with a dumb sex comedy. This week we present a thinking man's (and woman's) dumb sex comedy. It's pretty unusual and often politically incorrect but that's never kept us from enjoying a movie before. See you there.

THE NIGHT THEY ROBBED BIG BERTHA'S
JANUARY 31 MIDNIGHT, FREE, DIR. PETER KARES, 1975, 35MM, 87 MIN, R
Surprisingly funny and well-made heist comedy from the deep south. A master criminal puts together a ragtag crew to perpetrate the burglary of a whorehouse safe. Not surprisingly, everything goes wrong. The whole thing is done in an overblown manner that recalls "Dragnet" or Kubrick's THE KILLING, only with culturally insensitive humor and naked hookers. It oscillates wildly between offensive, sexy and funny. Written by Albert T. Viola, whose PREACHERMAN movies are landmarks in the hicksploitation canon.(Lars)
The Alamo Drafthouse is located at 4th and Colorado. Seating will begin at 11:30 or so.
Plus! Next Friday Feb. 9 we will be having a free Weird Wednesday Reel One Viewing Party to help us catalogue our newest film acquisitions. We've decided to open it to the public since we often have a lot of interest in the film collecting side of Weird Wednesday.
