Fantastic Fest opening night gets an injection of class- Live outdoor performance by artists Luke Sa
Don't have any statistical data to back this claim, but I'm claiming it anyway- Per capita, Austin has more artistic talent than any other city in the world. And Fantastic Fest brings in most of the rest of the artistic talent from other cities in the world to Austin. Again, no data, but if I had to put a number on it, probably 93% of all the artistic talent in the world will be in Austin September 24 to October 1, 70% of that locally based.
So how does one welcome such an esteemed onslaught of right-brainers? Foot your best, right foot forward.
On opening night of Fantastic Fest, beginning around 9:30 outside Alamo South Lamar, the finer of Austin's finest, film & video artist Luke Savisky and Golden Hornet Project's Graham Reynolds and Peter Stopschinski, will perform live! Graham and Peter will improvise music to live projections from Savisky onto the front facade of the Alamo! Call it improvised filmmaking, call it art, call it a full scale assault on the awe-sensors in your frontal lobe, whatever, it doesn't matter! What matters is that you're there to witness.
Just to recap. September 24th, 9:30pm, outdoors at Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar. Art happens.
Big special thanks to The City of Austin's Cultural Contracts Funding Program! And while we're at it, big thanks to The City of Austin- we don't know how you did it, but you did. Thanks.
