Fantastic Fest Day Three Report

Hey there troopers! We're at the halfway point of the festival, and I don't know about you guys, but I could use a good night's sleep. But there's no time! Too much excitement! We'll sleep when we're dead or when Fantastic Fest ends, whichever comes first.

Day Three was stuffed to the brim with way too much fun to adequately express via blog post, but I'm going to do my damnedest for you.

At the KNUCKLE Fantastic Debates, we witnessed brawls between actors Elijah Wood and Dominic Monaghan over the time-worthiness of WORLD OF WARCRAFT, between astrophysicist Andy Howell and NASA Hater Hunter about the relative suckiness or awesomeness of NASA, between Nathan Zellner and David Zellner regarding the superiority or inferiority of robots to humans, and between Drafthouse owner Tim League and bare-knuckle brawler and star of the Fantastic Fest selected documentary KNUCKLE James Quinn McDonagh as to whether a Texas is tougher than an Irishman. Read more about the debates and see the contestants' challenging videos here

The crowd voted after four incredibly rousing fights, and the winners were Dominic Monaghan (WORLD OF WARCRAFT is apparently not a huge waste of time), Nathan Zellner (robots rule, humans drool), Andy Howell (NASA's the coolest) and Tim League (Texans are totally tougher than Irishmen).

Watch Dominic Monaghan, star of Fantastic Fest selection THE DAY prepare for his fight with Fantastic Fest repeat guest Elijah Wood with a little smack-talking.

Last night a theater-full of lucky people watched a flawless 35mm print of AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON and then listened as special effects makeup god Rick Baker gave an erudite and charming Q&A which was live-streamed for everyone else. Mondo was responsible for the screening and for the stunning Olly Moss poster that was included with the ticket. Watch an interview with the man himself, Mr. Rick Baker.

We also took Fantastic Fest filmmakers on a rootin'-tootin' Texas shotgun adventure. Watch the highlights, and also please forgive me for saying the words rootin'-tootin'.

Yesterday we showed the absolutely spectacular COMIN' AT YA! 3D with Star Tony Anthony and Producer Tom Stern in attendance. Read Lars' wonderful write-up of the film and the meaning of 3D here, and watch the Q&A:

We also had a great screening of YOU SAID WHAT? yesterday. Watch the intro and Q&A with director Patrik Syversen, producer Kjetil Omberg, producer Terje Stromstad and actor Stig Frode Henriksen in attendance.

We had a ton of kick-ass Q&As yesterday for some amazing films. Here are some highlights:
