MUSIC MONDAY: THE WIZ
Sidney Lumet directs this version of the classic story, based on the smash Broadway musical. In it Dorothy is now a shy 24-year-old Harlem kindergarten teacher played by Diana Ross. Co-starring the late King of Pop Michael Jackson as the Scarecrow and Nipsy Russell as the Tin Man, THE WIZ is about as original and crazy as a musical version of THE WIZARD OF OZ can be.
THE BIG LEBOWSKI QUOTE-ALONG
To celebrate the 15th anniversary of THE BIG LEBOWSKI, we’re hosting weekly screenings of THE BIG LEBWOSKI Quote-Along this March. We've subtitled all of your favorite lines so you can use the preferred nomenclature, and we'll be handing out inflatable bats so you can show Larry what happens when you f*ck a stranger up the ass.
GIRLIE NIGHT: PRIDE AND PREJUDICE
Two words: Mr. Darcy. Seriously, this description should just end there because WHAT MORE DO YOU NEED? What more does ANY woman need than the brooding, handsome, totally swoon-worthy Mr. Darcy? Ok, well, Pemberly doesn't hurt. Nor do all of the fancy balls and gorgeous dresses and romantic intrigue and GAH I want to hate Elizabeth Bennet for being such a lucky bitch but I can't.
TOTALLY ‘80S SING-ALONG
You’re going to need a new closet full of leg warmers, and expect to go through several pair of fishnet gloves, too. Each week you’ll get an entirely new mix of subtitled music videos featuring all of the best pop artists of the ‘80s, so no matter how many nights you come out you’ll never see the same show twice.
DAZED AND CONFUSED QUOTE-ALONG
We’ve subtitled your favorite lines so you can scream at freshmen with Darla, praise Martha Washington for being such a hip, hip lady and sing along with the classic soundtrack. Freshmen, beware, because we’ll be passing out paddles and other props (but no weed, sorry). This cinematic flashback will be more than just alright-- it’ll be alright, alright, alright!
DON’T STOP BELIEVIN’: EVERYMAN’S JOURNEY
Journey, the iconic, quintessentially American rock band who recorded 8 platinum-certified albums during their heyday between 1978–1986, has chosen a lead singer in a manner befitting this internet age: they found him through YouTube. Now, the unlikely candidate must prove himself worthy not only to the band, but to their obsessive fans.
BIG SCREEN CLASSICS: ROMAN HOLIDAY
ROMAN HOLIDAY remains one of the great romances in the history of Hollywood cinema! Star Audrey Hepburn's legendary performance as secluded, sheltered Princess Ann secured her a place among the pantheon of silver screen icons. The Alamo is proud to bring you this 60th anniversary presentation of ROMAN HOLIDAY!
BADASS DIGEST: BRING ME THE HEAD OF ALFREDO GARCIA
Sam Peckinpah was cinema’s poet laureate of alienated men on the edge, and BRING ME THE HEAD OF ALFREDO GARCIA is his masterpiece. We’re proud to have this as the first screening of the Badass Digest Presents series. Not only is star Warren Oates the inaugural member of the Badass Hall of Fame, this movie represents the sort of uncompromising, vicious filmmaking we love.
ALAMO KIDS CAMP: TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES
The kids are off for spring break! What to do? Bring them to Vintage Park for a week of free screenings of TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES. They're the world's most fearsome fighting team; they're heroes in a half-shell, and they're assembling. Turtle Power! Seating is first come, first served or you can reserve your seat by buying a $5 food and beverage voucher. COWABUNGA!
Seven deadly sins. Seven ways to die. David Fincher is a genius of atmosphere and SE7EN could be his greatest outing. The stakes are always high, and you perpetually feel at risk watching this grimy crime shocker. This film doesn’t just mark the best of the ‘90s; it ranks amongst the greatest in the genre. Also before the show we will be having a gluttonous spaghetti eating competition!
FOOD & FILM: OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL DINNER PARTY
You know we couldn't just show OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL without doing something a little special. We present the OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL Dinner Party!! Enjoy three courses of delicious, specialty-themed food along with the film! Your ticket will include three dishes designed to compliment the film.
FOOD & FILM: GOOD WILL HUNTING FEAST
Remember when it was "Matt Damon's friend Ben Affleck" instead of the other way around? Celebrate Saint Patrick's Day with the film that put Ben and Matt on the map - GOOD WILL HUNTING. The GOOD WILL HUNTING Feast is inspired by the movie, the actors, and the people in New England and Boston. We have paired up with Samuel Adams and selected what we think are their best beers for each dish.
TOUGH GUY CINEMA: THE WILD BUNCH
Director Sam Peckinpah’s most celebrated masterpiece blasts its way across the screen and demands a truer understanding of what it means to be a genuinely TOUGH guy. This is a film about the mantle of violence passing from old professionals, who live by a code, to even more chaotic and deadly future generations.
GRAVEYARD SHIFT: THE EVIL DEAD
Join us for a screening of the original EVIL DEAD before the remake hits theaters. Every week, we'll screen a film from the original trilogy. Big-time filmmaker Sam Raimi and big-chin actor Bruce Campbell knocked out their baby teeth on these movies, heading deep into the woods to scare up massively effective shocks on a miniscule budget.
TV AT THE ALAMO: NCAA OPENING TIP
Don’t settle watching all the excitement on you TV. Come see college basketball at its dramatic best at the Alamo’s College Basketball Opening Tip for free. Join us for a brand new 3D restoration! If you’ve never seen this in 3D, you should stop reading this right now and mark that calendar!
BIG SCREEN CLASSICS: SHADOW OF A DOUBT
At times Hitchcock referred to SHADOW OF A DOUBT as his favorite of his own films. If you only know the Hitchcock of PSYCHO, THE BIRDS, REAR WINDOW, etc. you may be surprised by the lightness of touch Hitch displays in SHADOW OF A DOUBT. See a beautiful new digital restoration of Hitchcock's classic on the big screen.
BADASS 101: BEVERLY HILLS COP
Join us as we travel back to 1984 - back when Eddie Murphy was still a badass and Martin Brest was making some pretty badass action films. Murphy is Axel Foley, a street-smart Detroit cop who heads to Beverly Hills, California to solve the murder of his best friend. Come early because we're teaching you how to put a banana in a tail pipe! Rare 35mm screening!
GRAVEYARD SHIFT: THE EVIL DEAD 2 – DEAD BY DAWN
Graveyard Shift counts down to the upcoming remake of THE EVIL DEAD with weekly screenings of the EVIL DEAD trilogy. Not content with creating one of the most ferocious and ground-breaking lo-fi horror movies ever, Sam Raimi one-upped himself by reimagining the original EVIL DEAD as a parody. And also a sequel. Rare 35mm screening!

GRAVEYARD SHIFT: THE MANSON FAMILY
It’s the 10th anniversary of THE MANSON FAMILY, Jim Van Bebber’s dark exploration of Charles Manson's group of followers that took more than six years to film. SUNDAY SLEAZE: VICE SQUAD
A highly recommended descent into the sulfurous pit of hell known as Hollywood. Former soap star and crooner Wings Hauser burst onto the exploitation scene with his intense, over-the-top performance as the psychotic killer pimp Ramrod. Seething and ranting, a homicidal twisted nerve, Hauser is incredible. Pure, sleazed-out entertainment.
