Event Announcement: Flop Night with The Flophouse and I Love Bad Movies

Alamo Drafthouse Yonkers is pleased to present Flop Night: SLEEPWALKERS, an event co-hosted by The Flophouse and I Love Bad Movies, on Saturday, May 10 at 7:30pm. The evening will feature a pre-movie slideshow presentation by I Love Bad Movies, plus running commentary by The Flophouse.

In the past, The Flophouse and I Love Bad Movies presented similar screenings in Manhattan at 92YTribeca – selling out the theater each and every time. Past movie selections include JAWS: THE REVENGE, BRATZ: THE MOVIE and 12 ROUNDS.

The Flophouse is a podcast co-hosted by Elliott Kalan (head writer for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart), Dan McCoy (also a writer for The Daily Show) and comedian/performer Stuart Wellington which has been gaining acclaim on The A.V. Club and recognition in publications like The New York Times and Entertainment Weekly. “It's a good chance to share our delight in something incredibly silly, and hopefully the folks who spend the evening with us will go forth and spread the word, like a dumb movie virus” says Dan McCoy.

I Love Bad Movies is a zine by Matt Carman and Kseniya Yarosh, who also produce the annual Brooklyn Zine Fest. With a roster of several dozen writers, artists, comedians, film nerds, and special guests, each issue of I Love Bad Movies contains fresh, intelligent perspectives on movies often discarded as terrible. Matt Carman says “We're big fans of the Alamo Drafthouse's film programming, and look forward to irreparably damaging its reputation by showing SLEEPWALKERS."

Alamo Drafthouse Yonkers Creative Manager Cristina Cacioppo says “I had the pleasure of collaborating with these folks on events in the past, and what impresses me the most is how they engage the audience in a whirlwind of fun, forgoing the mean-spiritedness that is often employed in the rampant movie-mocking events.”
