In today's ever-changing world filled with boy bands popping up overnight, it's important to train yourself to know the difference between the real boy bands and all of the posers who just pretend to be a group of boys who can sing and dance.
As the Action Pack was preparing for the latest edition of WE WANT IT THAT WAY: THE BOY BAND SING-ALONG, we thought it would be a good time to put together this handy guide so you can educate yourself on the differences between REAL boy bands and FAKERS.
Here we go, example 1:
Were you fooled? It's okay, a lot of people would be.
That's because the group of boys on the left are all wearing shiny clothes, and two of them are crossing their arms. This is exactly the kind of things that real boy bands would do! Real boy bands LOVE posing for cameras like that. But this particular group of FAKES is really 2gether, a fictional boy band for a made-for-TV movie that aired on MTV, where they were making fun of the boy bands that they created.
Meanwhile, the group of sporty athletic types on the right look like your average, every day group of jocks that you'd run into at your local gymnasium, don't they? Except for one thing - they're actually the Backstreet Boys! But it's okay if you didn't recognize them - none of them were standing in the rain with their shirts off, nor were they dancing in unison on a spaceship.
Okay, let's try another:
Ooh, this one is a bit tougher, isn't it? I mean, would a REAL boy band ever display such an amazing lack of style and show up for a concert dressed as clowns? And how would that fake boy band end up on their own private jet that's sponsored by Target??
Okay, the fake one here is pretty obvious - that's Du Jour, the boy band from 2001's smash comedy hit, JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS. If you haven't heard their song, "Backdoor Lover," you should take a second to check it out.
Believe when I say,
That I want it... that way.
