Dance with the devil in the pale moonlight at this December’s BATMAN/BATMAN RETURNS double feature

The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is teaming up with 8th Dimension Comics & Games and Ain't It Cool News to bring audiences a full night of caped crusader fun with a double feature of BATMAN and BATMAN RETURNS.

Dance with the devil in the pale moonlight at this December’s BATMAN/BATMAN RETURNS double feature

Christopher Nolan is hard at work finalizing the final film in his Batman trilogy. As the world of geekdom waits with baited breath, let's remember another year where the world was caught up in the frenzy of Batmania. Yep, I'm talking about the months leading up to the 1989 release of BATMAN.

The Tim Burton Batman movies came at that special time in the burgeoning superhero film genre. Before bat nipples and "Kiss from a Rose" (as badass a song as that might be), there existed a more pure, potent form of Batman movie. One where the only thing tighter than the hero's leather costume was the villainess'. Burton's Batman movies may not be the perfect translation of the DC comic book character to the big screen but one thing audiences can never accuse them of not having enough of is style. Burton's Batman movies perfectly blended the dark themes of the comic book with Burton's even darker imagination. BATMAN RETURNS had penguins with rocket launchers for crying out loud! What more can you wish for in a Batman movie?

This December, the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is teaming up with 8th Dimension Comics & Games and Ain't It Cool News to present a full night of caped crusader fun with a double feature of BATMAN and BATMAN RETURNS. For the price of one ticket, you'll get two great Batman movies presented back-to-back. Watch as Michael Keaton breaks free from his comedic backgrounds and grabs hold of the steely eyed intensity of a mentally deranged vigilante of the night. Thrill as Jack Nicholson gleefully hams it up as The Joker, clown prince of crime and president of the Prince fan club. Gasp as Danny DeVito (as The Penguin) bites a guy's nose off!

This is the perfect opportunity to whet your appetite before this summer's release of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. We'll have special games, giveaways and more to make the night extra special.

We'll even continue or Dynamic Debates series! For those that didn't come to November’s edition of our Dynamic Duos film series, we introduced a brand new event — the Dynamic Debates. Each month we’ll pose a question and solicit responses. In less than 300 words, we’ll ask you to answer the question and sell us on your point of view. We’ll pick the best two answers to the question and invite you to attend that month’s event with a pair of complimentary tickets to the screening. Even better, your food and drinks for the night will be on us.

Between the two films, you’ll be asked to come up on stage and present your case — debating with your counterpart on the validity of your answer. The person who is best able to defend their point in the Dynamic Debates will go home with an amazing prize package from series sponsors Ain’t It Cool News, 8th Dimension Comics & Games and the Alamo Drafthouse.

This month’s question: Should Batman kill The Joker?

Send your responses to dynamicduosalamo@gmail.com — just be prepared, if you are chosen, to be able to defend your case in front of the audience the night of the event.

In the meantime, start sharpening your Batarangs, stretching our your leather jumpsuits and dusting off your hand buzzer because this Sunday, December 18 - we're all going to be doing the Batdance at the Alamo Drafthouse - West Oaks.

Sunday, December 18 @ 5 PM — West Oaks
