On Friday, January 23, the Alamo will be opening the first half of Steven Soderbergh's two-part epic CHE, starring uber-talented screen chameleon Benicio del Toro in the title role. The film has garnered much respect and critical praise, and stands to make a serious mark on political filmmaking.
But that's not all! In order to properly celebrate this historic account/event, mighty Alamo Executive Chef John Bullington has devised and prepared a most accurate, sumptuous Cuban menu just for screenings of CHE from Friday evening on Jan 23 to Sunday Feb 1, which will include the following:
Papa Relleno - Pureed potatoes rolled into a ball, filled with seasoned ground beef and lightly fried until golden
Carne con Papa - Cubed rib eye steak cooked with potato in a Cuban tomato sauce
Sandwich Cubano - Roast pork with ham, Swiss cheese, mustard and pickle on crusty bread
Maduras con Helado de Coco - Fried caramelized plantain with coconut ice cream
