There’s not really any concrete way to describe A GLIMPSE INSIDE THE MIND OF CHARLES SWAN III and, if you know the work of its writer/director Roman Coppola, you shouldn’t expect anything else. This is Coppola’s long-awaited follow up to his 2001 release CQ; an original dark comedy about a man dealing with maintaining his artistic integrity as well as his personal relationships.
In the years between he’s written with Wes Anderson on THE DARJEELING LIMITED and last year’s MOONRISE KINGDOM and earned an Oscar nomination for the latter. Now CHARLES SWAN has him back behind the camera. Charlie Sheen plays the title character, a star graphic designer in 1970’s Los Angeles. The film begins as his girlfriend leaves him, after which Swan recklessly travels through the city on a destructive rampage of emotion.
Bill Murray plays his business manager and Jason Schwartzman his best friend, two people who try to guide Swan through this stage of his life. The results are funny, farcical and entertainingly over-the-top and the three main performances make the film’s exuberant, anarchic turns that much more fun.

"The imaginative twists, histrionic inventions, and decorative whimsy have a winningly ingenuous and energetic cleverness." -Richard Brody, The New Yorker
