Celebrate the majesty of the ocean by chowing down on fish while watching THE LIFE AQUATIC

Here at the Alamo, we're all very big fans of Houston-native filmmaker Wes Anderson. His films are infinitely touching, suprisingly whimsicle and feature some of the best soundtracks ever assembled for a motion picture. Along with frequent collaborator Bill Murray, Anderson has managed to capture some of the most nuanced, truthful looks at the complicated relationship between fathers and thier children.

This March, we're paying tribute to one of Anderson's greatest films, THE LIFE AQUATIC WITH STEVE ZISSOU. The film stars Murray as Steve Zissou, a famed oceanographer who puts aside his career to plot an elaborate revenge scheme against the shark that ate his friend. The film features an amazing line-up of actors including Cate Blanchett, Willem Dafoe, Michael Gambon, Jeff Goldblu, Anjelica Huston, Owen Wilson and Seu Jorge, who also provides a soundtrack featuring Brazilian-influenced covers of David Bowie songs. The film also features wonderful stop-motion animation from Henry Selick, the director of A NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS. Also, keep an eye out for Bud Cort in a supporting role. Cort, of course, is the star of HAROLD AND MAUDE, this month's Big Screen Classics title.

For our screenings of the film in March, we're pulling out all the stops. You'll get a 35mm presentation of the movie, Team Zissou caps for all attendees and a great special on our fish and chips entree. So climb aboard the Belafonte, pack some dynamite and join us on a mission of revenge as we accompany Steve Zissou into the great mysterious depths of the ocean.

Saturday, March 10 @ 7:30 PM — Mason Park

Friday, March 23 @ 7:30 PM — West Oaks
