Calling all horror fans, CONTRACTED is guaranteed to gross you the heck out!

If you can watch Eric England’s CONTRACTED without feeling even a slight wave of nausea wipe over you, a psychiatrist may be in need. England’s film, a new horror film from IFC Midnight, is a gleefully gross film that uses outstanding special effects to explore a woman who finds herself being eaten alive – both physically and mentally.

Najarra Townsend plays Samantha, a young woman who finds herself transitioning in life during a bumpy patch in her relationship. Trying to lose herself after a fight with her girlfriend, Samantha hooks up with a man during a one-night-stand. Guilt isn’t the only thing riddling Samantha’s body in the morning – she finds she has contracted some kind of deadly disease that is literally rotting her body from the inside out. Featuring a supporting cast that includes horror legend Caroline Williams, CONTRACTED never shies away from a potential scare or upset stomach. England and his team have assembled a body horror film that knows how to upset audiences with sickening sights. Where the film really succeeds, though, is in balancing Samantha’s physical instability with her emotional turmoil. Samantha’s life is falling apart – it’s only natural that her body should follow behind.

Martin Tsai of the Los Angeles Times compares the film to another recent indie sensation – “CONTRACTED can best be described as CONTAGION meets BLUE IS THE WARMEST COLOR, without all those explicit sex scenes.” Matt Donato, from We Got This Covered, says that “CONTRACTED does for sex what JAWS did for beaches.” Scott Weinberg from FEARnet says of the film: “Icky and violent and shocking, but CONTRACTED is also smart, insightful and sort of tragic.”

CONTRACTED screens this Friday and Saturday at Vintage Park.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 7 AT 10:50 PM
