Break on Through - A South Lamar Update

The original and new Alamo South Lamar buildings have been formally combined as both the booth and theater hallways have been opened to each other. This is the first time we have been able to see the inside of this theater since it closed last year.

Break on Through - A South Lamar Update

As you can see in the image above, the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar’s original hallway has been connected to the new building through this doorway. Elsewhere around the interior of the new building progress is being made. But first, let’s step back outside real quick.

Here is the plaza entrance to the lobby. The façade of the building is pretty much complete with frames for the lobby doors in place. When I arrived the glass for the front of the building had just been delivered.

The highball patio façade is also coming along, though none of the wall structures that will close this area off to the outside have been constructed yet.

Here is a closer look at the lobby entrance.

Here is the door to the projection booth in the original building.

The image above shows sheetrock that has been hung in the hallway that leads to the new, larger theater. This is the theater that is right before the entrance to the original building. This entire wall extending into the theater, and the area just around the entrance to the original building, are the only places inside the new building that currently have sheetrock installed.

Here is what it looks like inside the original South Lamar building right now.

And finally a view of the plaza entrance from inside the new lobby.
