Read the book, see the movie!

Alamo Drafthouse and Winchester Book Gallery join forces to create new book and film club!

Read the book, see the movie!

Everyone loves seeing their favorite book brought to life on the big screen.  Since we have opened the Alamo, several book to movie productions are in our top ten in all-time sales, including the Twilight movies and Harry Potter movies.  With the upcoming releases this year of The Hunger Games, Life of Pi, and The Hobbit, the trend of huge movies based on books is sure to continue.

In celebration of films based on books, the Alamo is partnering with Winchester Book Gallery for a new film/book club.  Each month, you can buy a book from the Winchester Book Gallery and see the corresponding movie at the Alamo Drafthouse!  Meet with your friends at the Winchester Book Gallery and discuss the book before you see the movie.

Our first book and film will be Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close.  The book is available now at Winchester Book Gallery.  The group is encouraged to attend the February 1st 6:30 pm show at the Alamo Drafthouse, and to attend a discussion group for the book at Winchester Book Gallery on Tuesday February 7 at 6:30 pm.

Our second film and book will be Never Let Me Go.  The book discussion will be on March 13th at 6:30 pm at the Winchester Book Gallery, and the film will screen on March 20th at 6:30 pm at the Alamo.   For the rest of the year, we will have a book discussion at Winchester Book Gallery on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm, and the film screening on the 3rd Tuesday at 6:30 pm at the Alamo unless otherwise noted.
