Austin City Limits and Alamo Drafthouse present REEL RARITIES!

Austin City Limits and Alamo Drafthouse present REEL RARITIES!

With the help of our pals at Guerilla Suit, we've teamed up with Austin City Limits to bring you a landmark theatrical event. Reel Rarities, a series that we'll pop into our regular Music Monday spot on occasion, brings the best ACL classics out of the vault and onto the big screen. With over 800 taped performances at their disposal, ACL has selected their best vintage episodes, as well as highlights from the show’s 37 years of legendary performances. Only $5 gets you a ticket to this truly spectacular event, with the proceeds going to benefit the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians

First up, we'll be showing the ACL Pilot episode featuring the one and only Willie Nelson! He was the only fitting choice to kick off a little TV show that originated here to showcase the best of Texas and other roots music to the whole world through long-form live concerts. Willie and friends kill here, of course. Who would expect anything less? We will screen the full pilot episode of ACL as well as selected clips of other great performances from the show. Tickets to this Mon, July 25 screening can be purchased here! (There will be an encore screening Mon, Aug 1 at Village as well).

Later in August, we'll screen one of the most legendary Austin City Limits episodes of all time: Tom Waits, in a transitional period (isn’t he always, though?), tearing through his early repertoire with all the coolness and barfly charm we’ve come to love him for. Except for the occasional repeat, this episode has only become available on mostly terrible bootlegs, but thanks to our friends at KLRU and Austin City Limits, we are bringing it back, newly remastered from the original source tapes. Tickets are not yet available, but we'll let you know when they are. The Tom Waits ACL will screen Mon, Aug 29 at Alamo Ritz with an encore on Mon, Sept 5 at Village.

Huge thanks to our partners for helping us get these screenings! Don't miss the chance to see these on the big screen. You'll be so upset if you do!
