April brings movies from 1984, three sing-alongs, and live appearances from dancers and filmmakers!

April Events Announced

April 1: A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET.  Wes Craven’s original fright fest stars a young Johnny Depp and caused horrible nightmares for an entire generation of sleepy kids.

April 2: FILM CLUB: MAUVAIS SANG. A critically-acclaimed French film from Leos Carax (Holy Motors) starring Juliette Binoche and Julie Delpy.  Released in 1986, the film blends elements of sci-fi and film noir in a story about a strange and deadly plague. 

April 4 & April 5: CHEAP THRILLS.  New from Drafthouse Films, CHEAP THRILLS stars Sara Paxton and David Koechner.  Two men with financial troubles are given the opportunity to earn quick cash with a series of increasingly more dangerous tasks.  Tickets on sale soon.

April 8: Ballet: GISELLE.  From the legendary Mariinsky Ballet in St. Petersburg.

April 9: THE ADVENTURES OF BUCKAROO BONZAI ACROSS THE 8th DIMENSION.  Peter Weller, John Lithgow, Jeff Goldblum, and Christopher Lloyd star in one of the biggest cult hits of the ‘80s.

April 10: QUEEN SING-ALONG.  Don’t stop me now!  2 hours of awesome Queen videos with on-screen lyrics, live mics, and free mustaches for everyone!

April 11 – 14: FLEX IS KINGS.  An amazing new documentary about street dancers in New York.  The screenings on April 11 and 12 will feature appearances from the film’s director and several of the featured dancers.  The dancers will perform live in the theater.  Press Start Video Games will provide TVs in the lobby so we can play JUST DANCE while we wait for the movie!

April 13: BLOOD SIMPLE.  The brutally violent and shockingly funny debut film from the Coen Brothers (Fargo, True Grit, The Big Lebowski)

April 16: INDIANA JONES & THE TEMPLE OF DOOM.  Another film from 1984 that is close to our hearts…our warm, beating hearts…

April 17: PURPLE RAIN SING-ALONG.  Sing-along to the movie featuring the best soundtrack in the history of film.  Lyrics on screen, live mics, and props are included.

April 18: PLAN 9.  A bold remake of Ed Wood’s Plan 9 From Outer Space, starring…and hosted LIVE by…horror host Mr. Lobo.  There will be a Q&A with the director and actors following the film. Tickets on sale soon.

April 19: Film Club 3.0: BIBLE QUIZ.  Award-winning documentary about young love at the Bible Quiz National Championship.

April 23: Film Club 3.0: ALPHAVILLE.  Jean Luc-Godard’s 1965 sci-fi adventure starring Anna Karina about a U.S. Secret Service Agent sent to a space city of Alphaville to find a missing person.

April 24: TOTALLY 80S SING-ALONG.  2 hours of ‘80s videos with on-screen lyrics, live mics, props, and live host J. Riley.

April 26: DUMB AND DUMBER QUOTE-ALONG.  Make the most annoying noise in the world for the whole world to hear!  Ticket price includes props.

April 26: PRESS START VIDEO GAMES: SUPER SMASH BROS. TOURNAMENT.  Contact Press Start for more information.

April 29: New York Film Critics: LOCKE.  An advance screening of the new Tom Hardy movie.  A man’s life unravels during a single phone call.  Tickets on sale soon.
