Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas is pleased to announce plans to open their first El Paso location with EPT Land Communities and franchise partner Triple Tap Ventures LLC, owner and operator of the Houston area Alamo Drafthouse Cinema theaters. The first El Paso location will serve as the anchor tenant to the upcoming Montecillo Town Center, El Paso’s first smart growth, mixed-use community development that will include several restaurants, retail outlets, and housing on El Paso’s west side at 5001 N. The addition of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema to Montecillo represents EPT’s commitment to improving quality of life, not only for the residents of Montecillo, but El Paso as a whole. “Having an Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in El Paso is something that has been on our city’s wish list for years. The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Montecillo location will be a state of the art location with nine screens. Each of the auditoriums will be equipped with high-tech 100 percent digital projection, as well as excellent screen size-to-room ratio, and amazing sound. In addition to the superior AV equipment, the layout of each auditorium will eliminate the traditional front row, ensuring every seat in the house allows for a great viewing experience. Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Montecillo will also present special outdoor events and programming to be hosted in Montecillo’s public spaces such as movie nights in the park.

The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema provides a unique combination of theater and restaurant, showing first-run and independent films along with special event programming, and featuring an extensive menu of foods made from scratch in state-of-the-art culinary kitchens. Customers order all food and drinks from servers who quietly attend to them throughout the movie. Customers are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy curated pre-show entertainment. Instead of a barrage of advertising, a pre-show of rare (and often hilarious) clips are shown that change on a regular basis, often tailored specifically to the feature film.
Additionally, the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema protects the theater experience with a zero tolerance policy for people who disrupt the film with talking or texting. Last year the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema made global news for a viral “Don’t Talk” PSA that used a humorously misguided voicemail from an actual patron who was ejected for texting during the film.
