“Actual” blood with your vampire flicks

Buzz is swirling around the upcoming release of TWILIGHT, the film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's cult vampire novel of the same name. Pairing the right snack to new film releases has been an Alamo staple since the beginning, so why should we stop now, even when vampire food is a bit more esoteric. Nocturnal patrons who come to see TWILIGHT at the Alamo South Lamar or Alamo Village will have the option of drinking actual blood that was stolen from the Alamo Blood Bank. Kinda like the "tastes like chicken" cliche, if you haven't ever sipped a cocktail of real blood before, it tastes a lot like sangria.

We're also bringing back our popular Bat Wings (not made of actual bat) and for those wanting to ward off the vampire throngs, try out our garlic heavy "Love at First Bite" pizza, with roasted and fresh garlic, with a sliced "stake" topping.

Fans of the original book may also want to come out on Saturday night for a recreation of the pivotal "Vampire Prom," featuring live music by the Fatal Attractions.

Last but not least, if you are a real fan of the genre, I cannot implore strongly enough for you to go and see LET THE RIGHT ONE IN. Another very clever spin on the vampire legend, LET THE RIGHT ONE IN is one of the best, most perfectly executed movies I have seen in a long time. It's due up for a J.J. Abrams remake in 2009. See the original before it becomes a watered-down mess.
