Wes Anderson’s eighth feature is our fifth title proudly named in Drafthouse Recommends.

We are thrilled to announce Wes Anderson’s THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL as the fifth Drafthouse Recommends title. Drafthouse Recommends spotlights first-run movies with the Alamo stamp of approval to indicate that we love this title and we think everyone should make an effort to see it. Our goal is to highlight groundbreaking, innovative and intelligent films we believe deserve to be seen by as many people as possible.

“In Wes Anderson, we are witnessing the evolution of a modern day directorial master.  With THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL his style is at an absolute peak, but like MOONRISE KINGDOM before it, the true magic comes from the small friendships and genuine human interactions.  We are proud to vouch for GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL as the newest entry in our ‘Drafthouse Recommends’ program,” said Tim League, Alamo Drafthouse Founder and CEO.

Our magazine, BIRTH.MOVIES.DEATH., is highlighting THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL as its featured title for March. Editor-in-Chief Devin Faraci says, “There are certain filmmakers who compel you to buy a ticket opening night no matter what, and Wes is one of those.”

THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL recounts the adventures of Gustave H., a legendary concierge at a famous European hotel between the wars, and Zero Moustafa, the lobby boy who becomes his most trusted friend. The story involves the theft and recovery of a priceless Renaissance painting and the battle for an enormous family fortune -- all against the back-drop of a suddenly and dramatically changing Continent.

This is Anderson’s eighth feature and possibly his most mature and realized film to date. Wes Anderson is one of our most recognizable auteurs, and THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL is a triumph of that meticulous whimsy and defiant anachronism that define his oeuvre. We at the Alamo Drafthouse are enormous fans of Anderson, and have supported and loved his films from BOTTLE ROCKET to THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS to MOONRISE KINGDOM. It is only natural that his most recent title should become the latest in our Drafthouse Recommends series.

THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL opens at select Alamo Drafthouse theaters in March. In honor of the release, we're giving THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL the royal treatment in the form of a decadent feast offered here in select markets featuring duck, roasted with olives and rabbit. Look for lobby photo booths, menu specials and special surprises to accompany the release. Click here to purchase your screening tickets, and here for feast tickets!
