Aspen Grove Outdoor Free Family Film Series!

We're taking the Drafthouse outside with the Free Family Film Series!

Aspen Grove Outdoor Free Family Film Series!

We're bringing back the Aspen Grove Free Family Film Series, and it's bigger and better than ever.   Beginning on Tuesday, June 11, we'll be screening a free, family friendly movie outside our theater every Tuesday with the final film showing on July 9.   We'll have food and drink available for purchase.  We'll be pairing with the Humane Society of the South Platte Valley for most events and Ameribotics for our final event, they'll be on hand to discuss their important work and accept donations.  Those 21 and over who donate $4.00 will receive a voucher for a cold, delicious brew, kindly donated by local Colorado brewers.

Every Free Family Film event will begin at 7:00pm, with the film screening at sundown.  And here's what we've got planned:

The animals aren’t the only ones going to the circus – the Alamo audience is, too!   Before the film begins, enjoy the spectacular aerial performance of Dave “the Bullet” Smith as he flies through the air like Superman after being shot from his giant cannon.  Guests can take photos with Dave and his cannon and have a permanent memory of the event.  Additionally, the Sventastic Sven Jorgensen will perform a circus arts extravaganza by juggling fire on a ball, walking the world’s thinnest tightrope, and balancing on the Tower of Power. There will also be free face painting, and a bounce house.  The brewing partner for the Madagascar Circus will be Avery Brewing Company.

Tuesday, June 18 –  E.T.

The perfect film to watch under the stars!  E.T. might not want to go home after this event, which will be packed full of games and excitement.  Plus Size BMX will be conducting a biking clinic starting at 5pm and putting on an E.T. inspired bicycle flying performance before the film. Bring your bike and Giant Cycling World will be happy to valet it. Dress up alongside E.T. with our Alamo photo booth, race bicycles trying to save him from evil government agents, and compete in a Reese’s Pieces pick-up contest!  There’s even a special game for Mom and Dad that pays homage to E.T.’s accidental discovery of the Earth beverage known as beer.    The brewer on hand for this event will be Grimm Brothers.

Tuesday, June 25 – THE GOONIES

Goonies never say die!  Prove you’re a Goonie by solving our quest for buried treasure, surviving our booby trap games, and by bringing your best Truffle Shuffle!  One-Eyed Willie has revived himself to host, and will be bringing his crew of pirates to sing, sword-fight, and swashbuckle.

Tuesday, July 2 – DESPICABLE ME

Gru has been up to his old tricks again! His shrink ray has left the world’s treasures all over the Aspen Grove parking lot, and it’s up to the Alamo audience to find them.  When we’ve returned them to their proper places, we’ll be paying homage to Gru’s yellow minions with a Twinkee eating contest that have you laughing long before the film starts.

Tuesday, July 9 – IRON GIANT and his robot friends

This summer, it’s all about robots that can smash.  But the IRON GIANT is about a robot who can love, and no one loves robots more than Ameribotics.  We're teaming up with Ameribotics for the Robots in Movies Challenge camp, which kids can enroll in, and learn how to create their own stop-motion robot animation.   Their final film will be screened at IRON GIANT, and Ameribotics and their team of brilliant, talented students will be bringing their own dancing and fighting robot creations to delight and inspire all the Hogarths in the audience.    A $4.00 donation will get you a voucher for a beer and help Ameribotics send kids to the 2013 International Robotic Olympiad held in Denver. Our brewery contributor will be Left Hand Brewing Company.

We'll be posting updates about each event on our Facebook and Twitter, so please follow us there to keep track of what to expect at each event.   Remember, Free Family Fun will be running in conjuction with our Alamo Kids Camp, so families have lots of reasons to spend this summer at the Drafthouse!
