LOST IN DARKNESS AND CONFUSION: The Complete David Lynch

"I like making films because I like to go into another world. I like to get lost in another world." - David Lynch

For more than 40 years, David Lynch's works have enthralled, mystified, and provoked viewers. From his experimental shorts of the 1960s all the way through to INLAND EMPIRE, Lynch has pursued the boundaries of cinematic storytelling. Erupting onto the movie landscape with his first feature ERASERHEAD, Lynch established himself as one of the most original, imaginative and truly personal directors at work in contemporary film. Over the course of his career he has remained true to an artistic vision of innocence lost or adrift in the direst states of darkness and confusion. The key to understanding Lynch's films is being open to the subconscious, of resisting the logical reductiveness of language and giving yourself over to the cinematic experience of "another world". The films of David Lynch are special because they give their audiences a place to dream.

This summer at the Ritz we are going to explore the surreal intricacies of the director's unique visual and visceral style with THE FILMS OF DAVID LYNCH: every one of the director's feature films, the complete Twin Peaks, three unique Mystery Programs exploring the edges of Lynch's imagination, and the Lynch-produced/Herzog-directed oddity/wonder MY SON, MY SON, WHAT HAVE YE DONE.

In addition to the core series, we will also present an eight film INFLUENCES OF DAVID LYNCH series in August, showcasing the movies that have left the biggest impact on Lynch's work and from whose example he continues to draw inspiration.

There will be Lynch-themed menu specials, collectible program notes and several surprises along the way.
