SHE DIED WITH HER BOOTS ON: WOMEN AND THE WEST

Coming this August to the Ritz!

SHE DIED WITH HER BOOTS ON: WOMEN AND THE WEST

Annie Oakley. Belle Starr. Calamity Jane. Female western heroes are few and far between and too many westerns are populated exclusively with images of male cowboys taming the rugged, lawless frontier. Join us this August at the Ritz as we celebrate some incredible films that explore the experience of women in the wild west. From the dangerous and thrilling frontier adventure of WESTWARD THE WOMEN, to Fritz Lang's swealtering, high Hollywood melodrama RANCHO NOTORIOUS, to Joan Crawford's unforgettable performance in the technicolor Freudian madhouse JOHNNY GUITAR, to the elegaiac and deconstructive view of the West in Robert Altman's MCCABE & MRS. MILLER, these explosive movies are all whip smart and surprisingly subversive. These women are trailblazers, outlaws and gunslingers. This is SHE DIED WITH HER BOOTS ON: WOMEN AND THE WEST.
